The Answer here is the link to the questionThe Question There is only one force acting at that point. before the ball was released there was another force acting on it that has been applied by the hand of the thrower. The ball travels downward in the forward direction as the ball has been provided with some kinetic energy by the thrower and has some potential energy due to its configuration.
